Our educational programs in freshwater and environmental stewardship offer hands-on experiences that engage participants in conservation efforts. Activities like electrofishing teach practical skills and highlight the importance of healthy aquatic ecosystems. Meanwhile, the "Curious Kids Discover" program inspires young minds to explore nature and fosters environmental responsibility. Join us in nurturing future environmental stewards!
At a Glance
Freshwater Conservation Canada is committed to conserving, protecting, and restoring Canada’s freshwater ecosystems and their coldwater resources for current and future generations. Programs and projects are delivered by our professional staff along with local chapters, volunteers, and partners. Our on-the-ground work addresses challenges related to water quality, water quantity, aquatic community health, and freshwater habitats. Restoration work also helps to mitigate the impacts of climate change by improving ecosystem resilience and function. Programs include species at risk recovery efforts, riparian rehabilitation and reforestation, and implementation of low-tech process-based restoration including beaver mimicry and other in-stream habitat improvements.
