About the event
WHY?
Be afraid.... be very afraid; it's Phragmites! This is a continuation of Freshwater Conservation Canada's work to restore and protect freshwater habitats within the Guelph region. We are once again setting out to identify, locate and map the invasive subspecies of Phragmites australis, or European Common Reed. Don't underestimate this monster; it lurks in ditches and wetlands, growing aggressively across North America, slashing our native species and overtaking critical wildlife habitat. Its spread is vast, and knowing where it hides is half the battle. Help us and our ecosystems survive the night!
WHEN?
This spooktacular event will take place on October 31st, from 9:00am to 2:00pm, the brave will come dressed in costume, and whoever is the best dressed receives a prize! Lunch will be offered at the end.
