Fundraising During COVID-19

Your support of TUC’s fundraising campaigns and events provide the necessary fuel to conserve and protect Canada’s water.

Fundraising During COVID-19-The last few months of this year has been hard for people everywhere. Normal is no more. People work from home, stay inside, and keep to themselves. Gatherings in large groups no longer exist for in-person fundraisers and social events.  As a result, TUC has had to made changes to the way we do our fundraising to stay ahead in these changing times.  Here are some of the new creative campaigns we have held to support the continuation of our conservation and education programs.

Online Auctions The ease of bidding online, anytime led to the success of our first-ever online auction in March 2020, with the help of Elevate Auctions. Hosting an online auction gives everyone, anywhere the chance to get a unique item that may have only been available locally at a traditional auction.  Our second successful auction had a Father’s Day theme, so having a theme is a great idea to increase interest and offer exclusive items.

Peer-to-Peer Fundraising TUC is fortunate to have a wide spectrum of amazing talents among its supporters, members, volunteers, and staff across Canada and abroad.  The Fin Art campaign was the first of its kind for TUC and aimed to raise funds through a peer-to-peer model.  Anyone could join in and contribute to the campaign or simply support the cause through a donation.  As the name implies, the campaign was fish, wildlife, and/or water-themed and open for artists and creators of all stripes and scales, the wackier and wilder the artistic ideas, the better.

Virtual events It is almost certain that during this time, everyone probably has joined a meeting, attended a webinar, or had a happy hour with some friends from the comfort of your home. These are examples of virtual events.

You can participate and support TUC through other organizations’ virtual events.  TUC is an official charity partner of the Scotiabank Charity Challenge.  This year the race will be virtual, so you can get outside and run, set goals, and challenge and inspire others.

The 2020 Shaw Charity Classic has been canceled, but you can still support TUC through their Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink online fundraiser.  Shaw will match every donation made dollar for dollar – plus since donations are made through Birdies for Kids, they will also be matched up to an additional 50 percent by the Shaw Charity Classic. That means that for every $10 donated, your charity will receive up to $25!   You can text our charity code KIDS195 to 30333, until August 15, 2020, to donate $10 to TUC or donate online.

Keep checking back to see when we will be hosting our first-ever fundraising virtual event!

And finally,  don’t forget, some employers match employee contributions.  Check with your HR team to see if your company is part of this important community investment program of gift matching that will double your impact so you can help Trout Unlimited Canada continue to conserve and protect Canada’s water.
