TUC Mourns the Passing of Bob Scammell

Trout Unlimited Canada mourns the Passing of Bob Scammell.

Bob Scammell

L-R, Doug Pullan, Bob Vanderwater, Jim McLennan, Bob Scammell,Neil Waugh, Don Pike, Dr. Bill Young

The recent passing of Bob Scammell leaves a huge void in Alberta’s hunting and fishing communities. Bob was an outstanding advocate for our fish and wildlife resources. His writing reflected his deep love of all of our wild things, whether they were found in wild places like the foothills or on the farm next door. His passion for hunting, fishing, conservation, photography and the whole outdoors was reflected in his writing. While he often wrote about outdoor experiences, it was his writing about the politics of outdoor Alberta where he really made an impact for conservation and of our wild resources. Bob understood in his blood that to keep our wild places and creatures, we first need to take care of the land and water they need to survive. He was a great conservationist, a champion of public access, and a spokesman for those creatures that do not have a voice. He will be missed.
