Annual Redd Count

Volunteers are needed to assist in the continuation of the Bow River Chapter’s annual redd count. Since 2015, the Chapter has conducted an inventory of brown trout spawning activity in the Bow River.

This information is useful in monitoring the population health of the Bow River’s important trout fishery. Volunteers will assist the Chapter’s biologists and angling professionals by identifying and recording the number and GPS location of redds. We will float the river in rafts and/or boats between Glenmore Trail and Policeman’s Flats on Saturday, November 10th (10am-3pm) and Sunday, November 11th  (10am-3pm).

It is not necessary to attend both days. We will be covering a different reach of the river on day two. Refreshments will be provided.

What to bring: weather appropriate clothing waterproof footwear recommended waders useful but not essential lunch

Where? Start location Saturday, Nov 10 Graves Landing (under Glenmore bridge east of Burnco and Deerfoot Meadows) Start location Sunday, Nov 11 Fish Creek Park boat launch (extreme south end of Bow Bottom Trail)

A shuttle back to your vehicle at the end of the day is provided.

Please email the Chapter for additional information
