On October 13, 2018, the Ontario Chapters met at Calamus Winery in Niagara. A special presentation was made to recently retired, national biologist, Jack Imhof in recognition of his many years of service to TUC. Jack was presented with a uniquely designed framed salmon fly by Sheldon McLaren, a Niagara region fly tier and designer. Dubbed the Imhof Imago, the fly was presented to TUC CEO Silvia D’Amelio in Jack’s absence.
Niagara TUC members, Paul Furminger and Gary Kosinsky designed fishing flies that are faithful to the framed original, but simpler to tie and using less exotic materials; Jack also received a dozen of these for his trout fly box. Jack’s huge influence on the restoration and preservation of cold water systems in Ontario and across Canada is well documented, but it is his passion and inspiration that have meant so much to the Ontario Chapters, said Brian Green, secretary of the Niagara Chapter, in making the presentation.
