Recently, Trout Unlimited Canada’s Niagara Chapter was awarded just over $22,000 by the province of Ontario.
These funds will be used by the chapter to protect native species within Ontario’s Twelve Mile Creek.
Chapter members and volunteers will protect native fish species within Twelve Mile Creek by planting trees, shrubs and plants along its banks. These plants will provide cover and shade for native fish species while improving water quality in the process.
Twelve Mile Creek flows into Lake Ontario and combined with the other Great Lakes is home to over 4000 plant, fish and wildlife species.
