RBC’s Blue Water Fund Supports Project

To celebrate RBC Blue Water Day and kick off the start of  a new partnership, TUC met with RBC representatives Ron Sauve, Regional Vice President, Alberta Central; and Cara Liddell, Executive Assistant, yesterday at the Piper Creek Restoration Project in Red Deer, Alberta.

TUC was presented with a cheque from RBC’s Blue Water Fund.  These funds will be used for the restoration of streamside areas along Piper Creek and for the removal of an existing stream crossing which is impacting the health of the stream. The project is a collaborative effort between TUC,ReThink Red Deer, The City of Red Deer, andAlberta Riparian Habitat Management Society(Cows and Fish).

The Piper Creek project is part of a larger vision for the property, which includes the construction of a food forest, pollinator hotel, and large community gardens, all part of the ambitious Piper Creek Restoration Agriculture Project led by ReThink Red Deer  Many other stakeholders and partners are involved in the partnership, including Red Deer River Naturalists, TUC Central Alberta Chapter, Red Deer River Watershed Alliance, Living Lands Landscape Design, and Olds College, adding further value to this project.
