Thanks to the City of St. Albert

Thanks to the city of St. Albert.

Thanks to St Albert’s Environmental Initiatives Grant, the Yellow Fish Road program continues to impact schools and community groups with water education. The grant program is a way to encourage sustainability projects that align with St Albert’s 2014 Environmental Master Plan and cultivate a green community. The grant covers costs associated with environmental projects or programs that are supportive of the City’s environmental goals of improving the Sturgeon River watershed and improving water quality by reducing nutrients, pesticides and bacteria levels. Although the Yellow Fish Road program was launched in the city in 2005, the support of the grant program over the last few years, has allowed the program to grow in partnership with the city and educate more people about water quality preservation and enhancement.

This past year, the program grant enabled Trout Unlimited Canada to put 10 Yellow Fish Road school and community group packages into the hands of youth who will use them over and over again. The packages provide learnings about water, the problems, and solutions to stormwater pollution and the tools to take action in the communities to share with others by doing the storm drain painting project to ensure ‘Only rain goes down the drain’ to the river.”
