TUC provides feedback to DFO.
Earlier this Fall, the federal department of fisheries and oceans (DFO) asked Canadians for feedback on restoring lost protections into the Fisheries Act. TUC along with other organizations and individuals to this opportunity to provide feedback. The Fisheries Act was significantly changed in 2012-2013 in a federal omnibus bill in an effort to streamline the regulatory process. The online consultation wrapped up last week.
TUC has submitted a brief to the Standing Committee with recommendation on improving the Fisheries Act and Fisheries Protection Policy. We look forward to working with our colleagues at the federal level to improve the Act to protect Canada’s valuable fisheries.
